Father's Day

I miss my father. He died 13 years ago of a heart attack at the age of 50. 50 seems much younger to me now than it did when I was 28. I found a blog that tears at my heart. It is PostSecret. Read secrets about fathers - http://postsecret.blogspot.com/

If you love your father, tell him now before it is too late.

How true! I lost my father not quite 3 years ago. His last 2 were spent on a ventilator and bedfast, while his body deteriorated from a disease very similar to Lou Gehrig's Disease. By the time he passed, the only thing he could move was his eyes. I miss him more every day. He was a great father and I had visions of him being an awesome grandfather. I relished the possibility because the only grandfather I had lived in SW Miss. and we saw him twice a year, maybe. I see my fahter in myself as I grow older. I just wish he were here to see my children, go fishing with them and ride them on his lawn mower as he me. I am glad that my memories of his years being ill don't come to mind as often as they used to. While ill, I knew his time was short. I couldn't imagine a world without him. I still can't.
